Natural Architecture

There is a quote by the architect Frank Lloyd Wright on the inspiring qualities of nature for the creative process:

“Nature is my manifestation of God. I go to nature everyday for inspiration in the day’s work. I follow in building the principles which nature has used in its domain”  

While the structures of our age appear to transcend the boundaries of nature (such as the tallest skyscrapers in the world), these edifices are influenced by the forms of the natural world. Perhaps the most explicit example of such an inspiration is the bare tree during winter, when you can see the composition of branches, as they gradually become smaller towards the periphery.

A couple months ago, I captured the image below, which illustrates this symmetry between the natural and synthetic architectures.
